Boutique Stay in Funchal, Madeira
When looking for accommodation in Funchal we were overwhelmed with the amount of choice. There are some fantastic luxury hotel in the Islands capital. We always prefer to stay in a smaller, boutique hotel.
The hotel building itself was once a popular supermarket in the charming old town area. It features exposed stone walls and simple clean décor.
The café attached to the hotel is also a little gem. Prima, meaning cousins in Portuguese, provides food like nothing else we tried while in Madeira. Fresh daily juices, and colourful dishes are beautifully presented.
Activities in Madiera
If you are planning a trip to Madeira, why not check out our blog, Exploring Madeira with Kinto as we explore the island and discuss our favourite lavada walk.
The Levadas are waterways that run all over the island. These were built to provide fresh spring water to villages and crops on dryer parts of Madeira.
There are many Levada hikes in Madeira, suiting all fitness levels. Our favourite being the Levada Das 25 Fontes, it is one of the most popular trails on offer. We really enjoyed getting out of the town and into nature. If you don’t think you can face the climb back up to the carpark, there is a shuttle service to take you back to your car!
